Privacy Notice & Protection of Personal Information

The Personal Data Protection Act 2010 ("PDPA")

1.1 In compliance with the requirements of the PDPA, this Notice is issued to inform you of The Association of Bumiputera Women in Business and Profession (PENIAGAWATI), (hereinafter referred to as “Peniagawati”, “our”, “us” or “we”) commitment to the policy of protecting at all times the confidentiality, integrity and security of the information provided by you to us.

1.2 This document sets out how Peniagawati may collect, hold and use personal information. By providing your personal information to the Peniagawati, officers and officials of the Association, you consent to its use, storage and disclosure by Peniagawati in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Why does the Peniagawati collect personal information?

Peniagawati collects personal information in order to properly and efficiently carry out its functions. This includes providing support to registered members by maintaining a central database of information, administration of the members’ program, and to facilitate the promotion of services and goods that may be of interest to you.

Peniagawati uses personal information only for the purposes for which it was provided and for directly related purposes (unless otherwise required by or authorised under law). We may state a more specific purpose at the point we collect your information.

What personal information does the Peniagawati collect?

“Personal Data” means information about you, from which you are identifiable, including but not limited to your name, identification card number, birth certificate number, passport number, nationality, address, telephone number, fax number, bank details, credit card details, race, gender, date of birth, marital status, resident status, education background, financial background, personal interests, email address, your occupation, your designation in your company, your company details, the industry in which you work in, any information about you which you have provided to us in registration forms, application forms or any other similar forms and/or any information about you that has been or may be collected, stored, used and processed by us from time to time and includes sensitive personal data such as data relating to health, religious or other similar beliefs

How does Peniagawati collect and hold personal information?

1.3 In order to enable us to deal with your inquiries or to process your applications for membership or renewal or any other services related or incidental thereto (“the Services”), we may need to or may be required to collect, record, hold, store, use and / or disclose (i.e. process) your personal data and information which includes, but not limited to (“the Personal Data”):-

  • Name, age, gender, date of birth;
  • Identity card number / Passport number / Photograph;
  • Education, nationality, medical records

3. Family information:-

  • Marital status, name of spouse, child or immediate / major family members

  • Employer’s name;

  • Designation and job title;
  • Employer’s or Company’s contact information and address

1.4 We may obtain the Personal Data from yourself and from variety of sources, including but not limited to:-

  • Fill up and completing application or registration forms or any other similar forms via online or otherwise;
  • When you register at the Site(s) as a user;
  • From publicly available sources such as directories,
  • From social media platforms’ pages, if you subscribe, follow, like or are a fan of such pages;
  • from such other sources in respect of which you have given your consent to the disclosure of information relating to you and / or where otherwise not so restricted;
  • When you interact and communicate with us at any events, activities or through social media platforms;
  • When you enter contests organised by us;
  • Your personal data may also be collected from cookies used on the Websites;
  • From our server logs when you log into the Websites, such as details of internet protocol address; or
  • From telephone log information when you call us, such as your telephone number;
  • Purchase merchandise, products or services from Peniagawati
  • Are elected or appointed to a committee of Peniagawati; or
  • Apply for employment or a volunteer position with Peniagawati

Purpose of processing personal data?

1.5 We may use and process your Personal Data for business, and administrative purposes of Peniagawati which shall include, without limitation the following (“the Purpose”):

  • to process your registration, renewal, subscription, purchases of our products and services;
  • to perform our obligations in respect of any contract entered into with you;
  • to provide you with any services or products you have requested;
  • to process your purchase or request for advertising space (if any);
  • to process your participation in any events and activities including focus groups, research studies, contests, promotions, polls, surveys, any productions or events organised by Peniagawati;
  • process, manage or verify your order, purchase or booking of our services and products;
  • research, develop and market products, services, merchandise and special offers of benefit to members made available by us and/or third parties;
  • to respond to questions, comments and feedback from you;
  • to communicate with you for any of the purposes listed in this Notice;
  • to maintain, improving or enhance the delivery of our customer service;
  • for internal administrative purposes, such as auditing, data analysis, database records;
  • for purposes of investigation, detection, prevention and prosecution of security breaches, crime or fraud;
  • for us to comply with its obligations under law;
  • to maintain appropriate records for internal administrative purposes and
  • to keep you informed of news and information relating to various events, activities and opportunities via various mediums.

1.6 Peniagawati has the discretion to keep the Personal Data provided by you as long as it is required to meet the purposes as stated herein or until a withdrawal or revocation of consent in writing is received by Peniagawati to terminate the processing of the Personal Data provided by you. 

Acknowledgement and Consent

1.7 By communicating with us, using our services, purchasing products or services from us or by virtue of your engagement with us, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Notice and agree and consent to the use, processing and transfer of your Personal Data by us as described in this Notice.

1.8 By continuing to communicate with us, by continuing to use our services, purchasing products from us or by your continued engagement with us following the modifications, updates or amendments to this Notice, such actions shall signify your acceptance of such modifications, updates or amendments.

In the event of any conflict between the English and other language versions, the English version shall prevail.

1.9 Where you are of the opinion that the Personal Data held by us is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or where relevant, not up-to-date, you may make a request in writing (by completing the necessary form) to correct and/or to update your Personal Data.

Disclosure

2.0 Peniagawati may disclose your personal information to a range of organisations which include, but are not limited to:

  • Companies or Organizations we engage to carry out functions and activities on Peniagawati’s behalf,
  • Our professional advisers, including our accountants, auditors and lawyers;and
  • in other circumstances permitted by law

Direct marketing

We may use non-sensitive personal information for marketing purposes (including disclosure of such information to Peniagawati sponsors) If you do not wish to receive e-mail, SMS or posted offers from Peniagawati or marketing information from official sponsors, you may opt-out by at any time by notifying the Peniagawati Officer via the contact details set out in this policy.

Withdraw or revoke consent

Please notify us in writing if you wish to withdraw or revoke your consent from our use and process your Personal Data for the Purposes and the Additional Purpose as stipulated herein.

If you wish to unsubscribe to the processing of your Personal Data for Additional Purposes by us, please click on the link “Unsubscribe” which is embedded in the relevant email in order not to receive any email in the future.

Mahani is a Trade Mark & Industrial Design Agent with expertise in prosecution of trademarks and industrial designs and advising clients on commercialisation and valuation of their intellectual assets.

Mahani who previously ran an event management company and a franchise courier business is also a serial entrepreneur currently running her online cake business called The Cake Coma and will be launching her own skincare line hopefully by year end.

An experienced TV Commercial Producer in the late 90’s, Jay started her career in producing more than 100 TV commercials for various local and international FMCG clients. 

Graduated in Hotel Management at Kolej Damansara Utama and The Australian Centre for Event Management, University of Technology Sydney. 

2020 marks her 2 decades in the event management industry, where she has produced, organised, managed and acted as an event consultant for various types of events from small to large scaled corporate, public, sports and entertainment events.

Jay’s portfolio made her one of the sought-after Conference Organiser in Malaysia, and she has managed many international conferences & seminars in Beijing, Shanghai, Delhi, Cairo, UK and Singapore. 

Although she had previously managed many fashion shows for local fashion schools, in 2017 she became heavily involved in managing fashion runways for international market such as during Spring/Summer New York and London Fashion Week.

Known as a “feisty-firecracker”, Jay is well travelled, very resourceful, passionate in the event industry and has the ability to cut through the clutter. She is to event production agencies and clients what E=MC² is to nuclear physics.

With over 34 years of experience in the hotel industry and management, Emmy Suraya (the sole owner of Emmy Suraya Enterprise) was awarded the franchise to operate Hotel Seri Malaysia Genting. The hotel commenced its business operations on March, 1998. 

Previous held positions also included Director of Sales and Marketing under Pernas Hotel Management SB, KL; front- office positions under Ming Court, KL and as Secretary at Hunts Commodities SB, KL. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management at the Centre Economics of Business Studies in the UK. Ambitious and energetic, she is looking forward to contribute more in the hotel and tourism industry.

Mimi Wahedah is one of the top model in Malaysia in the 80’s. She started her modelling career at the age of 18. She was Miss Favourite & 2nd-runner up for Dewi Remaja 87/88 competition.


A familiar face, she used to emcee for corporate events, model for tv commercials, and busy hosting for various TV programmes. Worked at Cartier & Ratu Kuala Lumpur as a Boutique Manager before embarking on her own to become Hijab Stylist and provide trainings on Grooming & Social Etiquette.


Mimi Wahedah Global, a company she formed to focus on her modest clothing brand “MW by Mimi Wahedah” in 2017. Her motto – “ Less is More”.


Mimi loves Turban. She enjoys styling variation of turbans, experimenting with many materials. After realising that in order to look different, she started to produce neck collars, to further accessorize while covering turban users’ neck. To make her collection more stylish, MW capes was born, that can be worn at many occasions and users are encourage to mix & match.


Pursuing her passion in modest collections and to make it inclusive, her CSR programme with cancer survivors will be ongoing, with the main aim to boost their confidence with MW collections.
MW by Mimi Wahedah collection was first previewed at NK Fashion Week runway during London Fashion Week at The Bentley Hotel, London on September 2019. Look out for more collections this upcoming years.

Datin Dr. Hasnorliza Abu Hassan – (known as Datin Dr. Leez Abu Hassan) is an entrepreneur, author, speaker and a mentor. She is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ADLA Group Sdn Bhd, which provides training/coaching in best entrepreneurial practices.

Her entrepreneurial achievements have led to a string of awards, the most recent being the Entrepreneur of Excellence Award, by Binary University of Management & Entrepreneurship (2018), the Women Icons Award Malaysia 2018, by Business Excellence & Research Group Pte Ltd (BERG) and for 2019, Datin Dr Leez Abu Hassan received Women Leadership Award by CMO Asia & World Women Leadership Congress.

Dato’ Azlin is the President of Association of Bumiputera Women in Business and Profession, Malaysia (PENIAGAWATI) from 2012 until now. Peniagawati is the oldest women entrepreneur association in Malaysia and has been established since 1980 with thousands of members from various industries. As the President of a leading women entrepreneur association in Malaysia, Dato’ Azlin has spearheaded many programs including training, networking events, overseas missions, collaborations with government agencies and many others to enhance the achievements of women entrepreneurs in Malaysia.

Dato’ Azlin has been the Vice-President of the British Graduates Association of Malaysia (BGAM) for 29 years from 1989 until now. BGAM is an umbrella body for British graduates and British university alumnis in Malaysia where Dato’ Azlin has organised many events including royal dinners and was also the Editor of BGAM’s quarterly bulletin, amongst others.

Dato’ Azlin created history when she became President of the Rotary Club of Bukit Kiara Sunrise in 1997 as she was Rotary’s first Bumiputera lady President in Malaysia. In 1999, she was the District Secretary of Rotary District 3300 which covers 54 Rotary Clubs in Malaysia.

After having been the President of her university’s Malaysian Students Association in her undergraduate years, Dato’ Azlin then became one of the founder members of the unofficial University of Kent Alumni which gathers the graduates of her alma-mater.

At the age of 44, Dato’ Azlin was awarded ‘Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak’ on 19 August 2008 from His Royal Highness Sultan Azlan Shah, the Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan which carries the title ‘Dato’ for her contribution to the legal profession and the community.

Dato’ Azlin has also been awarded several entrepreneur awards including ‘Asean Leading Women Entrepreneurs Award’ in 2016.
